N4N BOOKS · GATE 06

Every debit finds its credit.

n4n Books is double-entry accounting without the spreadsheet — bank feeds that reconcile themselves, journal entries that balance by construction, and financial reports read straight from the ledger the rest of the fleet writes into.

The specimen · double-entry

Watch a payment become a journal entry.

INV-2041 settles at the bank: 3,450.00 due, 62.00 taken in fees. Books writes the entry — cash in, fees expensed, receivables cleared — and the trial balance runs back to zero before anything posts.

  • Entries post from source documents — the payout, the claim, the payroll run
  • Debits must equal credits before the ledger accepts a write
  • Any report line drills back to the entry and its document

Capabilities

Bookkeeping the ledger does for you.

Balanced by construction

An entry cannot post until debits equal credits. The trial balance is not a report you run at month end — it is a rule the ledger enforces on every write.

Reconciliation that suggests

Bank feed lines arrive already matched against open invoices, bills and transfers. Confirm the suggestion or split the line — the journal entry writes itself either way.

A chart of accounts that fits

Start from a sensible chart for your kind of business, then rename, renumber and nest accounts without breaking history — every report follows the change.

Reports read the ledger live

Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and aged receivables over any date range — computed from the journal itself, never from an export.

Drill to the source document

Select any number on any report and walk down: report line, journal entry, source document — the invoice, claim or payroll run that caused it.

A close that stays closed

Lock a period and it stays locked. Late arrivals post to the open period with a note pointing back, so the statements you filed never shift underneath you.

Works the fleet

Three apps already write into it.

Books is the fleet’s ledger of record. Nothing arrives by export or sync job — Invoice, Expense and Payroll post journal entries directly, each one balanced and pointing back at its source document.

Questions

Before you board.

Anything else — write tosupport@n4n.ioand a person answers.

Is n4n Books available today?

Not yet. n4n Books is boarding — in active development and not open to customers. n4n AI, the fleet’s first app, is live today at n4n.ai. Leave your email and we will write when Books opens.

Do I need to know double-entry accounting?

No. You work in plain terms — invoices, bills, bank lines — and Books writes the debits and credits underneath. The full journal is always there for you or your accountant to inspect.

How does Books connect to the rest of the fleet?

Fleet apps post into the ledger directly: a paid invoice clears receivables, an approved expense claim hits the right expense account, a payroll run books wages and deductions in one entry. No exports, no sync jobs.

How will Books be priced?

Like the rest of the fleet: one prepaid balance shared across every n4n app, pay for what you use, no per-seat pricing, and a $0 minimum to start.
